If you are in Bulgaria without your parents or other relatives who could be designated as your accompanying persons by the Bulgarian authorities, the Bulgarian state must appoint a special representative who will be in charge of the proper conduct of your procedure and will take care of your interests. This representative is called a “guardian”.
You have the right to ask for a meeting with your guardian whenever you have questions or problems. The Bulgarian authorities, in particular the Agency for Refugees and your interviewer, are obliged to arrange such a meeting and to ensure an interpreter who will help you to communicate freely with your guardian.
The guardian is obliged to attend all the interviews before the Agency for Refugees, and to be present when you are given a document to sign.
